We normally eat dinner on Tuesday nights with our gospel community group, but some people were sick this week so it was canceled. The plans were kind of up in the air all afternoon so I didn’t start anything for dinner before all of my afternoon students. When I finished at 7PM, an impromptu Tuesday Date Night seemed like a good idea.
We weren’t in the mood to leave the neighborhood so we decided to revisit Über Eats. I’ve been wanting to try the Highlander salad, and tonight was the night!
Honey dijon vinaigrette, mixed greens, dates, avocado, tomato, sunflower seeds, and goat cheese.
Okay, so dates were really good in this salad! I want to try it at home! I ate every leaf. It was amazing. Also, I need to come here for breakfast sometime! We never think of it, but their website says that they serve it 8-5PM! I like it!!! None of this 10:30AM business.
Two kinds of tots to share — truffle & romano and bacon & crema. Both delicious, and a small consolation for the fact they don’t have any sweet potato fries. Their shoestring fries are actually pretty good too! They’re so skinny and crispy!!!
It’s crazy, but it’s true. My sweet potato transformation is now complete, and I almost dislike regular old white potatoes and fries. They’re just not as good!!! To think that for 25+ years, I thought this was what sweet potatoes were:
I was missing out, but I am reformed now.
Best Sweet Potato Fries in Denver Restaurants:
- Park Burger. Okay. So the Parmesan Truffle Fries are really good too, but those are Kevin’s!
- TAG Burger Bar. Just received word today that they are working on another location in Sunnyside! That’s my neighborhood!!! :)
- Fire on the Mountain — extra love for the crinkle!!!!!!!!!!!!
Places I wish would get sweet potato fries: Lark Burger!!! (they have good parm truffle fries too) & Slotted Spoon — no fries at all :/ , but they are a great paleo-ish choice!
I also took an impromptu rest day from CrossFit today which is very rare for a Tuesday (when I’m typically not sore yet – haha), but it was a weird day all around. What was up with that weather? Maybe that’s why my mind is on sweet potatoes.
But just so you know, there’s a St.Patrick’s Day shirt for Rogue!!! They came out with a men’s version first, and I was so disappointed! But I was a nice wife and bought him one. But then over the weekend, I noticed they had women’s sizes available. HOORAY!!!!! I’m the REAL Irishwoman here. My maiden name was McMillin!!!!! I have the freckles!! And I’ve been teaching The Irish Washerwoman to piano students all week!
What are the best fries you’ve ever had??? See my list above. And I do love my Alexia fries. I just do. Even if I “should” always make them homemade because it would have less ingredients, that’s just not always reasonable.
Are you planning anything for St.Patrick’s Day? I couldn’t talk Kevin into a race :/ , but I think we are going to a party. And/or Old South Pearl Street where we went last year (and saw a mini Boyd!!!!!!!!).
P.S. Don’t you think Boyd would make a GREAT leprechaun???
